In case anyone isn’t already aware, pull-through knife sharpeners like the one pictured below (regardless of brand) will absolutely damage your blades and give a terrible edge. These work by dragging the edge through a pair of angled edges typically made from high hardness steel, carbide, or ceramic. If you are currently using one of these, or have previously used them on an edge, seriously consider getting that edge re-profiled and sharpened!


The YouTube channel OUTDOORS55 did an excellent analysis with super close-up images of the actual effects on the edge. These images and tests clearly show the extremely undesirable edge geometry and excessive material removal that this type of “sharpener” inflicts.
Please get ahold of me to see how long-lasting, satisfying, and effective a properly sharpened edge can be. Standard sharpening alone will be an immense improvement over the results of torturous methods like these, and for new or significantly worn blades, I can quote a re-profile of the blade for you that will really bring new life to that old edge!
